Sony and Honda Team Up for Electric Vehicle Development

EV or Electric Vehicles are basically the future. Tesla was first to notice it; however, every automobile giant plans for Electric Vehicle Development. On March 4, a huge announcement was made on Sony and Honda Team Up for Electric Vehicle Development.

People nowadays are increasingly concerned about preserving our environment. So it doesn’t if the market demand for Electric vehicles is limited now; there are endless possibilities in the future. Although Japan is seen to lead most of the tech market, Electric Vehicle Development is one field where Japanese Automobile manufacturers couldn’t catch up. However, this partnership will almost certainly result in Japanese businesses entering worldwide.

Electric Vehicle Prototypes from Honda and Sony

Sony has been working in making EVs for some years and has assembled two of the prototype electronic vehicles named “Vision-S” to start building fully-featured electric cars in the near future. Honda e is an Electric Vehicle offered by Honda with a retro design and awesome aesthetics.

Honda and Sony described their new endeavor as an extension of their previous conversations and investigation of strategic cooperation focused on developing innovative mobility services.

In April 2021, Sony began 5G driving testing on the Vision-S 01. However, the car is still being used to test new technologies that enable novel electric and autonomous mobility experiences.

Benefit of Sony and Honda Team Up

Sony lacks Automobile Industry Experience in the field of dealerships and aftermarket service networks, whereas Honda lacks AI Technology. Therefore, both the companies will receive an equal level of benefits from each other.

Electric Vehicle is a rapidly growing field with lots of new startups. However, new companies have some significant risks as tech giants like Apple are expected to enter this market with their own technology with awesome EVs.

Even though some media sources have portrayed this partnership deal as an attempt to “take on Tesla,” the fact is that it is not all-electric car manufacturers that are following in Tesla’s footsteps and making varieties of EVs that will basically help the people.

The company’s reference of Sony’s expertise in ‘imaging and sensing,’ which might hint at a potential emphasis on autonomous electric vehicles, is particularly fascinating.
