Google Android App now lets you delete the last 15 minutes of your search history

Google recently rolled out a new feature in its latest update for the Android version of its app which will now let you delete the last 15 minutes of your search history swiftly.

After a long wait, this feature has finally arrived on Android whereas iOS users got this update back in mid-2021. They had announced the same feature for Android to be released in late 2021 but we are finally getting it now after a hefty delay.

How to delete the last 15 minutes of your google search history with a simple tap?

  1. Open the Google app on your android device.
  2. Tap on your Google Account profile picture in the top right corner.
  3. Here, you should see an option below “Search history” called “Delete last 15 minutes”.
  4. Tap on that option.
  5. Done!

As you can see, with just a few taps all of your search history within the last 15 minutes is gone. This “quick delete” feature helps you get rid of your search history without having to delete each one of your searches manually or having to open an incognito window.

Additionally, Google lets you automatically delete your search history for a wide variety of time periods which includes automatic deletion after 3 months, 18 months, or 36 months. Simply enable the option according to your preference and after it crosses the set time limit you won’t have to be worried about people finding out what you search online or getting irrelevant search recommendations.

How to automatically delete your search history after a certain time period?

Follow the quick and easy steps below to enable the option which lets you delete your search history automatically after a certain time period has passed.

  1. Open the Google app on your android device.
  2. After opening the app, tap on your Google Account profile picture in the top right corner.
  3. After a menu pops up, tap on the “Search history” option present at the bottom of the pop-up menu.
  4. Once you get here, tap on the “Controls” tab either on the top or left-hand side of your screen depending on your screen orientation.
  5. A menu card called “Web & App Activity” opens up. Here look for the “Auto-delete” section.
  6. By default this option is turned off. Tap on “Choose an auto-delete option”.
  7. Here you will see the various time limits offered by Google. Tap on the one according to your preference.
  8. Done!

Now that this one-tap feature which lets you delete your last 15 minutes of search history has finally made its way to the Android app perhaps it is only a matter of time before it gets implemented on the desktop pc versions as well.
